I am a 63 year old man and I’ve had sort of an epiphany that I’d like to share. I’ve already tried to share parts of my epiphany with friends (former friends) and have failed miserably, because this epiphany involves ego, something a lot of people THINK they understand, but actually do not understand at all, and are actually resistant to understanding. Got it? I’ve been trying to communicate something that virtually everyone I know doesn’t really want to understand anything about. Why not? Well, because I want to talk about ego and ego is something that virtually completely controls our behavior, and people dislike the very idea that they are not “free” in any and every way in this country, much less that they are virtually completely controlled. They dislike it so much, that they won’t even be drawn into a conversation around types of ideas similar to it!!
You can remember what I want to talk about via the acronym RED – Reality, Ego, and Delusion – this blog’s title. Reality is something we have to mention, because if we don’t point out some things about it first, your own mind will just assume I am a crackpot who doesn’t have a clue as to what I’m talking about and you’ll stop reading. Understand something: this is about something I see plainly (it’s obvious to me): I might also see that the sky is blue – it is like that! I am beyond all argument – like Billy Graham on “God!” I do not just think I have some “neat” ideas to share – this is something so important to me, in that I feel like I HAVE to state it as publicly as possible. Religious people and Republicans in general will see it as a “rant” by an atheistic (& therefore damnable) Democrat, I know, but I just got to say it because it seems no one else will! I don’t really believe that it will change anything, but these ideas seem completely blocked in our American culture, and as long as they are, I see no hope!
